About Canning
The electorate of Canning covers an area of approximately 4,147 square kilometres and takes its name from an early Western Australian explorer and pioneer called Alfred Canning. Canning is a diverse electorate which includes the outer metropolitan areas of Kelmscott and Armadale and extends to semi-rural Serpentine-Jarrahdale. Canning also takes in agricultural localities such as Waroona and Pinjarra.
It also encompasses the beachside localities of Falcon, Dawesville and Halls Head amongst others. Approximately 87,400 people live in the electorate.
The main industries in Canning are light industry and mixed agriculture. These include bauxite mining, stone and citrus fruits, beef and dairy farming, market gardens and forestry.
Don Randall travels regularly to all areas of this wide electorate in his mobile office to talk to local residents and help resolve any issues they may have.
